Toledo-based WebArt has been awarded the contract for designing and building the new Toledo Public Schools website. WebArt won the job over seven other competing companies.
The new site will be a “living, breathing resource for parents, students, teachers and administrators,” said WebArt principal Steve Timofeev. “It will include a ‘content manager’ function that will allow authorized staff members to update content quickly and easily. And fresh, robust content is one of the keys to a website’s long-term effectiveness.”
According to a news story on the site, an informal survey conducted by TPS found that parents want access to downloadable forms, information on sporting events, a school calendar, college scholarship information, teacher e-mail addresses, and answers to frequently asked questions.
“We’re always focused on the end users of our websites,” said Timofeev, “so all those features and many others will be included.” About half the site is scheduled to be functional by the start of the 2007-2008 school year. The other half will be completed as the year progresses.
