It’s an “interactive 10-month program that helps participants better understand issues facing the Roanoke Valley.” The goal: build leadership skills and show participants how to make a difference in business and their community. LRV participants come from all over the Southwest Virginia region, some from very large, influential companies.
During his training, Lee worked with a small group that focused on tourism and the outdoor assets of Roanoke, Virginia, where MadAveGroup has an office.
“Roanoke is a great outdoor town. A lot of people are drawn to our trails, greenway, lakes and rivers,” said Lee. “My group focused on that aspect because most cities don’t budget enough money to maintain their outdoor assets.”
“The LRV program teaches people how to be leaders outside of their strengths; how to get out of your comfort zone,” said Lee.
“It was very beneficial for me. I learned how people lead in different ways and that there’s not one right way to lead. It taught me to look at things from different perspectives; how to tell a story better and how to present calls to action with everything I do. Plus, it was a very good networking opportunity. I met a lot of great people from all over the region.”
Lee isn’t the only MadAveGroup team member to join Leadership Roanoke Valley. Our Director of Digital Marketing Brad Timofeev started with the program in 2017.
